Business Intelligence and Analytics

The BI&A project enables independent, direct, and immediate program oversight of finance, procurement, quality assurance, and technical assistance across the Global Health Supply Chain projects.

BI&A supports supply chain optimization for USAID’s three strategic health priorities by harmonizing data from all implementing partners in the Global Health Supply Chain projects. The project relates supply chain data to health indicators, and weaves together disparate datasets into a platform that supports narrative analysis.

Through routine, automated data feeds and manual transmissions, GHSC partners populate BI&A with up-to-date global health supply chain data. Key, time-bound information such as GHSC-PSM orders and shipments are updated daily; other data sets, such as quality assurance, financials, and country stock levels are updated weekly or monthly. USAID/Washington, USAID Missions, countries and partner agencies have direct access to data for financial oversight, monitoring and evaluation, and program management.

Country-focused solutions such as the Procurement Planning and Monitoring Report for HIV (PPMR-HIV), Tanzania Health Commodities Dashboard, and others create visibility into country-level stocks, upcoming orders, and last mile availability. In PPMR-HIV, BI&A aligns four different data sources, including country forecast and supply plan data, to enable stakeholders to visualize the differences between projected and actual consumption and orders. In Tanzania Health Commodities, we bring together two systems representing the entire health commodities supply chain in Tanzania, and help stakeholders in Tanzania and at USAID visualize in-country stocks, and financing gaps in multiple health areas.
