Description

In Liberia, oxytocin is the preferred medicine for prevention and treatment of postpartum hemorrhage (PPH); however, ensuring its quality throughout the supply chain remains a challenge. Liberia's Ministry of Health has partnered with the USAID Global Health Supply Chain Program-Procurement and Supply Management (GHSC-PSM) project to ensure oxytocin quality through its integration into the vaccine cold chain and expanded use of misoprostol for PPH in settings without available cold storage options.

Read this technical brief on the considerations for moving oxytocin and misoprostol for PPH through the supply chain in settings such as Liberia and the actions taken by the Liberian government to ensure reliable supply of these commodities that are so critical to saving mothers' lives during and after childbirth.
