Technical Report: Effective Community Level Supply Chains for ICCM and Malaria

Authored on
Description

As part of the U.S. President's Malaria Initiative (PMI) five-year strategy to reduce malaria mortality and morbidity and bring more countries toward malaria elimination, PMI identified strengthening community health systems as essential. Integrated community case management by community health workers is at the center of efforts to improve healthcare access and delivery in lower- and middle-income countries, including for malaria. To strengthen these health systems, resilient supply chains are needed to deliver malaria commodities to community health workers and the areas they serve. This brief contains challenges faced and lessons learned by GHSC-PSM from engaging community health workers and building supply chains that address the unique needs found at the community level. Best practices and recommendations are also shared, which supply chain stakeholders can apply in their own programs.
